VARTA Dynamic EFB Batteries
The Dynamic EFB range covers cars with basic start-stop, without energy recovery from braking. It was previously marketed as Blue Dynamic EFB.
Technology
EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) is a reinforced liquid electrolyte battery: it incorporates a carbon additive in the negative plate and a polyester separator that holds the active material. The result is approximately double the cycling resistance of a conventional starter battery, at a significantly lower cost than an AGM.
Applications
- Entry-level cars with start-stop
- Vehicles that make many short trips with frequent starts
- Taxis and urban delivery vehicles
- Replacement of the original factory EFB battery

How to choose
If your car came from the factory with EFB, you can install EFB or upgrade to AGM. If it came with AGM, do not downgrade to EFB. In case of doubt, the original battery label indicates the technology alongside the capacity.
Naming and equivalences
Dynamic EFB is the current name of the VARTA Blue Dynamic EFB. Covers cars with basic start-stop, that is, without energy recovery during braking.
Frequently asked questions
Which range replaces the VARTA Blue Dynamic EFB?
The VARTA Dynamic EFB, with the same references and capabilities.
What does EFB mean?
Enhanced Flooded Battery: enhanced liquid electrolyte battery. It has a carbon additive in the negative plate and a polyester separator that holds the active material, allowing it to withstand about twice as many cycles as a conventional starting battery.
Does an EFB work for a car without start-stop?
Yes, it works without any problem and provides greater cycle resistance. The decision is usually economic, because for a vehicle without start-stop a Dynamic SLI is already sufficient.
How do I know if my car comes with EFB or AGM from the factory?
It is indicated on the original battery label, next to the capacity. If it is no longer legible, the rule is not to go down in technology: in case of doubt, install AGM.
