Traction batteries for warehouses in Málaga and the Costa del Sol

We work for warehouses, logistics operators, hospitality distributors, industry and shops that move pallets with a pallet truck. We supply the traction batteries ourselves: if the reference you need is not in stock, we bring it in to order. Brands we work with in traction: Varta, Tudor, Trojan, Rolls and TAB.

We deliver to industrial estates in Málaga and the Costa del Sol (ask about delivery times), or you can collect from the shop at C/ La Orotava, 100, San Luis industrial estate. We take back the used battery and recycle it at no charge. We do not fit batteries on your premises: we deliver the battery and your own staff or maintenance contractor installs it.

Which battery each type of machine uses

We handle batteries for equipment such as Linde, Still, Jungheinrich, Toyota or Crown, among others. Voltage and capacity are always confirmed from the data plate on the machine or on the current battery. If yours is a pallet truck, there is more detail on the electric pallet truck batteries page.

Monoblocs or 2 V cells (PzS): how they differ

• Traction monoblocs: 6 V or 12 V blocks wired in series until they add up to the machine voltage (two 12 V blocks for 24 V, for example). They come as flooded lead-acid, AGM and gel. You find them in pallet trucks, light stackers and machines that cover short distances.
• 2 V cells (PzS): individual cells with tubular positive plates and liquid electrolyte, linked with connectors inside a steel tray. Twelve cells give 24 V, twenty-four give 48 V and forty give 80 V. This is the usual build in counterbalance and reach trucks.

A monobloc is easier to swap and takes up little room. A cell battery offers more capacity, copes better with deep daily work and lets you replace one faulty cell without changing the whole set, provided the rest is in good condition.

Flooded lead-acid, gel/AGM or lithium: it depends on shifts and charging

• Flooded lead-acid: the classic choice for one shift a day followed by a full charge. It needs topping up with demineralised water and a ventilated charging area. It copes badly with opportunity charging if that becomes a habit.
• Gel and AGM: sealed, with no topping up and no spills. They suit moderate use and clean areas such as food handling or shop floors. They need a charger with the right profile and should not be run right down.
• Lithium: accepts partial charges during breaks, which is why it is considered for multi-shift work. There is no water maintenance. It needs a compatible charger and, as it weighs less, the machine’s minimum battery weight has to be checked.

Tell us how many shifts you run, when you can charge and which charger you have. With that we can tell you which technology makes sense and which does not. If you want to move from lead to lithium, ask us first: it is not always a straight swap.

What to look for on the battery data plate

• Voltage (V): 24, 48 and 80 V are the most common. It has to match the machine and the charger.
• C5 capacity (Ah): in traction, capacity is quoted for a five-hour discharge. Do not compare it with the C20 Ah figure of a leisure battery: they are not equivalent.
• Weight: the service weight of the battery and, on the truck’s own plate, the minimum and maximum battery weight allowed.
• Tray dimensions: length, width and height. The battery compartment is unforgiving, and so is the height once vent plugs and connectors are counted.
• Connector: type, amp rating and which side the cable comes out. If it differs, it will not plug into the machine or the charger.

Why weight matters on a counterbalance truck

On a counterbalance truck the battery is part of the counterweight. If you fit one lighter than the minimum set by the manufacturer, the machine loses stability and lifting capacity with the forks raised. That is why not every battery that fits the compartment will do: you have to respect the minimum weight on the plate or make it up with ballast as the truck manufacturer specifies.

Care that makes a lead-acid battery last longer

• Water, after charging: top up with demineralised water once charging has finished, never before. The electrolyte level rises during charging and, if you fill beforehand, it overflows.
• Full charges: with lead-acid, making a habit of part-charging sulphates the plates and reduces capacity. Let the charger finish its cycle.
• Equalisation: run an equalising charge as often as the battery or charger manufacturer recommends. It balances the cells and stops one of them falling behind.
• Cleaning: keep the top dry and clean, the vent plugs closed and the terminals tight. Damp dirt causes current leakage and corrosion in the tray.
