What kind of battery your machine uses
Warehouse machinery uses deep-cycle (traction) batteries: they are built to be discharged heavily and recharged every shift, unlike a starter battery. The most common configurations are:

Flooded, AGM or gel: what suits your operation
- Flooded lead traction: the classic choice for forklifts running intensively over several shifts. Cheaper per Ah, but it needs maintenance (topping up with demineralised water) and a ventilated charging room.
- AGM: sealed and maintenance-free. Ideal for single-shift operations, smaller warehouses and machines working near food or in clean areas.
- Gel: copes better with deep discharges and sustained heat; a good option in Málaga for machines working outdoors or in hot units.
Why they fail early
- Incomplete charging: plugging in "for a while" mid-shift and unplugging without finishing the cycle sulphates the plates.
- Discharging below 20 %: running the machine until it stops shortens its life dramatically.
- Low water level (on flooded types): a low level leaves plates exposed and ruins them.
- Heat inside the unit: in summer, a warehouse without ventilation punishes a battery far more than the workload does.
With correct maintenance, a traction battery can exceed 1,200-1,500 cycles; with poor charging habits, it manages half that.
