We supply traction batteries for floor scrubbers and sweepers to cleaning contractors, hotels, shopping centres, hospitals, car parks, warehouses and residential communities in Málaga and along the Costa del Sol. Tell us which machine you have and we’ll quote for the full set.
Traction batteries for professional cleaning in Málaga and the Costa del Sol
An electric scrubber or sweeper runs on deep-cycle batteries: they are drained almost completely every shift and recharged afterwards, day after day. We have been a specialist battery shop since 1999 and are an Official Varta Distributor, and this is a type of battery we supply ourselves.
- Brands: Varta, Trojan, Rolls and TAB, in gel, AGM and flooded lead-acid. Lithium on request.
- Availability: if a reference is not in stock, we order it in. Ask us for the delivery time.
- Delivery: we deliver to your warehouse, hotel, shopping centre or community in Málaga and the Costa del Sol. Fitting the batteries in the machine is done by your maintenance staff or your service engineer.
- Old batteries: we collect them and recycle them at no charge.
Which batteries each type of machine takes
The table is a rough guide. Use it to get your bearings, not to place an order: every manufacturer does things its own way and two similar machines can take different sets.
| Type of machine | Usual voltage | Typical configuration |
|---|---|---|
| Small walk-behind scrubber dryer | 12 V or 24 V | 1 × 12 V or 2 × 12 V |
| Mid-size walk-behind scrubber dryer | 24 V | 2 × 12 V or 4 × 6 V |
| Ride-on scrubber dryer | 24 V or 36 V | 4 × 6 V or 6 × 6 V |
| Sweeper (walk-behind or ride-on) | 12 V, 24 V or 36 V | From 1 × 12 V to 6 × 6 V, depending on size |
We handle batteries for equipment such as Tennant, Kärcher, Nilfisk, Comac or Fimap, among others. The exact reference is always confirmed from the machine’s rating plate or from the batteries currently fitted: voltage, capacity in Ah, dimensions and terminal type.
Gel, AGM, flooded or lithium: which one suits you
The technology is chosen by where the machine works and who looks after it, not just by what the set costs.
Gel and AGM: maintenance-free and no gassing
These are sealed batteries. They are never topped up, they do not spill and in normal use they give off practically no gas. They are the usual choice indoors: hospitals, hotels, shopping centres, the food industry and anywhere the machine is charged in a room without dedicated ventilation. Gel copes very well with deep daily discharges and AGM accepts charge readily. In return, both are more sensitive to a badly set charger.
Flooded lead-acid: lower cost per cycle
This is the classic traction battery, with filler caps. Looked after properly it delivers a lot of cycles and usually works out cheaper per working cycle. It asks for two things: topping up with distilled water regularly and charging in a ventilated area, because it gives off hydrogen while charging. It suits warehouses, car parks and stores where someone takes care of maintenance.
Lithium: for machines that rarely stop
Lithium (LiFePO4) needs no maintenance, weighs less and accepts partial charges between shifts. The initial outlay is higher, and you need a dedicated charger and a machine that accepts it. If your machine works several shifts a day, ask us and we’ll look at it with you. There is more detail in our guide to deep-cycle batteries.
Why a car battery is no good in a floor scrubber
A starter battery is built to deliver a lot of current for a few seconds and be recharged straight away by the alternator. Its plates are thin. Drain it fully every day, as a scrubber does, and it sulphates and loses capacity very quickly.
A traction battery has thicker plates and is designed to deliver a moderate current for the whole shift, and to do so hundreds of times. They look alike from the outside and the volts match, but they are not interchangeable.
The charger matters as much as the battery
Gel, AGM and flooded batteries are charged with different curves: the voltages and the charging stages change. A charger set for flooded batteries overcharges a gel battery and dries it out. One set for gel leaves a flooded battery undercharged, and it ends up sulphated. Either way the set lasts a good deal less than it should.
If you change technology, check the charger. Many of them, both those built into the machine and external ones, have a selector or a programme for the battery type. Tell us which charger you have and we’ll take it into account when we prepare your quote.
Replace the full set, and tell us this for a quote
The batteries in a machine work in series. If you replace just one, the new one is tied to the old ones: it charges and discharges badly and ages at the pace of the worst. The right thing is to replace the whole set at once, with batteries of the same brand, model and capacity.
To give you a quote we need:
- Make and model of the machine.
- Working voltage (12, 24 or 36 V) and number of batteries.
- Capacity in Ah and technology of the current batteries (gel, AGM or flooded).
- Dimensions of each battery or of the compartment, and terminal type.
- If you prefer, a photo of the machine’s rating plate and another of the battery label. That is usually enough.
How it works
From the first message to taking the old batteries away.
- 01You send us the details or the photos
- 02We send you a quote and delivery time
- 03We deliver, or you collect from the shop
- 04We take the old ones away
More equipment on site? We also supply batteries for aerial work platforms, forklifts and pallet trucks and other industrial batteries.
Daily care to make the set last
- Charge at the end of the shift, even if the machine has done little work.
- Never store the machine with flat batteries: nothing shortens their life more.
- Let the charger finish the full cycle. Do not cut it short out of habit.
- With flooded batteries, check the level and top up with distilled water only, after charging and without overfilling.
- Keep the terminals clean and tight and the top of the batteries dry.
- If the machine is going to stand idle for a while, store it charged and top the charge up from time to time.

Frequently asked questions about scrubber and sweeper batteries
Do you deliver scrubber batteries across the whole Costa del Sol?
Yes. We deliver in Málaga and the Costa del Sol, to businesses and private customers: hotels, warehouses, industrial estates, shopping centres and communities. It is delivery only, with no fitting at your premises. Ask us for the delivery time for your reference and area.
What if you do not have my battery in stock?
We order it in. Give us the reference or send a photo of the rating plate and, together with the quote, we’ll tell you availability and delivery time.
Can I switch from flooded to gel or AGM?
Usually yes, provided you keep the voltage, the dimensions and an equivalent capacity. What you cannot skip is the charger: it has to be set to the new technology’s curve or replaced.
Can I replace only the battery that has failed?
We do not recommend it. The batteries are wired in series, and a new one next to worn ones works out of balance and does not last. It makes more sense to replace the full set with identical batteries.
Do you take the old batteries away?
Yes. We collect used batteries and recycle them at no charge, whether we deliver to you or you come to the shop in Málaga.
We handle industrial and traction batteries for machinery, forklifts, platforms and emergency equipment. The price depends on the voltage, on the capacity in amp-hours and on the battery type your equipment takes. Tell us on WhatsApp the model of the machine or of the battery you have, or call 952 31 01 18, and we will give you a free, no-obligation quote. No appointment, at C/ La Orotava, 100.
