The Costa del Sol has more than 70 golf courses — Marbella, Estepona, Mijas, Benalmádena, Sotogrande, Fuengirola, Casares. Each one operates 20-50 electric carts that depend on banks of 6 lead-acid batteries. Replacing them in time avoids lost days of service.

Real lifespan in the Costa del Sol climate
With intensive use (4-5 rounds/day, 6 days/week) and correct maintenance: 4-6 years for Trojan lead-acid, 8-12 years for LiFePO4. Without maintenance (no distilled-water top-ups, no equalisation): 2-3 years.
Minimum mandatory maintenance
- Top up with distilled water every 2-4 weeks (lead-acid only).
- Clean terminals and apply dielectric grease monthly (corrosive salt air).
- Monthly equalisation charge with a smart charger (prevents stratification).
- Annual capacity test with a controlled-discharge charger.

Lead or lithium for your fleet
- Deep-cycle lead: the traditional option and the cheapest to start with. It needs maintenance (water level on flooded types) and it is heavy, which in a buggy actually helps stability.
- Lithium (LiFePO4): more expensive up front, but far lighter, faster to charge, maintenance-free and good for many more cycles. On fleets in intensive daily use it usually pays for itself in the medium term.
