If you run the buggy fleet at a golf course, hotel, resort or residential community in Málaga and the Costa del Sol, you need a supplier who provides the batteries, delivers them and takes the old ones away. At Málaga Baterías we supply traction and deep-cycle batteries from Varta, Trojan, Rolls and TAB. Tell us how many vehicles you have and what voltage they run on, and we’ll prepare a quote.
What we supply to golf courses and communities
We supply traction batteries ourselves. If a reference is not in stock, we bring it in to order.
- Complete sets for 36 V and 48 V buggies: the whole pack for each vehicle, with batteries of the same reference and the same batch.
- Utility and maintenance vehicles: those used by the greenkeeping team, security or the gardeners of the community.
- Electric hire trolleys: compact 12 V batteries.
- Auxiliary machinery: scrubber-dryers and sweepers for the clubhouse, the hotel or the car parks.
We work with batteries for equipment such as Club Car, EZ-GO or Yamaha, among others. The configuration is always confirmed from the vehicle’s rating plate or from the batteries currently fitted.
Which battery each vehicle takes
| Vehicle type | Usual configuration | Recommended technology |
|---|---|---|
| 36 V buggy | 6 batteries of 6 V in series | Deep-cycle flooded lead-acid; lithium as an alternative |
| 48 V buggy | 6 batteries of 8 V, 4 of 12 V or 8 of 6 V | Deep-cycle flooded lead-acid or a 48 V lithium pack |
| Utility or maintenance vehicle | 48 V in most cases; some models run at 72 V | High-capacity flooded lead-acid, or lithium if it works many hours a day |
| Electric golf trolley | One compact 12 V battery | Deep-cycle AGM or gel, or lithium |
| Scrubber-dryers and sweepers | 24 or 36 V with 6 or 12 V monoblocs | AGM or gel indoors; flooded lead-acid if someone maintains it |
The table is a guide only. Besides voltage, capacity in amp hours (Ah) and size matter: the battery has to fit the tray.
Renewing the whole fleet or in phases
Both options work. It depends on the real condition of the batteries and on how many vehicles you can have out of service at once.
Full renewal
The whole fleet ends up with batteries of the same age and the same behaviour. It is the easiest to manage: one fitting date and one routine. It is usually done in the low season.
Renewal in phases
You spread the investment over several batches. The rule is to renew whole vehicles, never battery by battery. Start with the buggies that struggle most to finish the day and mark the fitting date on each set. With the used batteries that are still healthy you can make up sets of a similar age for the vehicles that work least.
Why you should not mix new and old batteries in one vehicle
The batteries in a buggy are connected in series: the same current flows through all of them and the weakest one sets the range of the whole pack. One new battery alongside five worn ones does not bring the vehicle back: the old ones run flat sooner and, on charge, some end up overcharged while others never fill. The new one ends up ageing at the pace of the old ones.
How to request a fleet quote
Four steps, without coming to the shop.
- 01Count the vehicles and note the voltage of each group
- 02Send us a photo of the label on the current batteries
- 03Receive the quote with the options and the delivery time
- 04We deliver the new ones and take the used ones away
Flooded lead-acid or lithium in a buggy fleet
Deep-cycle flooded lead-acid is the most common choice in fleets. Lithium (LiFePO4) needs a higher initial investment and changes the way you work:
- Maintenance: flooded lead-acid needs topping up with distilled water and terminal cleaning. Lithium takes no water and gives off no gas while charging.
- Workshop hours: multiply the minutes of checking by each vehicle and each week. In large fleets it is the cost that is least visible.
- Weight: a lithium pack weighs considerably less than a lead-acid set. The buggy marks the turf less and uses less energy on slopes.
- Opportunity charging: lithium accepts partial charges between rounds without suffering. Lead-acid prefers full charges; if it is often left half charged, it sulphates and loses capacity.
Moving to lithium means using a charger with a lithium profile and checking that the vehicle accepts it. Ask for a quote for both options. There is more detail in our guide to batteries for golf carts and buggies.
Fleet maintenance routine
With flooded lead-acid, battery life depends above all on this routine. In the Málaga heat water is used up sooner: in summer you need to check more often.
- Full charge after every working day. Do not leave vehicles discharged overnight.
- Distilled water, after charging. Top up to the level with the battery already charged; before charging, add only enough to cover the plates.
- Clean, tight terminals. A loose or sulphated terminal heats up and reduces range.
- Equalisation charge as often as the battery manufacturer specifies.
- A record for each vehicle: fitting date, voltage of each battery after charging and any incident. That way you see in good time which set is starting to fail.
- Off-season storage: store the vehicles charged and check the charge every few weeks.
Collection and recycling of used batteries
Old batteries cannot stay in the charging room. We collect used batteries and recycle them at no cost. When we deliver the new ones we take the old ones with us. If you have batteries piled up from earlier changes, tell us when you ask for the quote.

If you also look after cleaning machines or warehouse equipment, see batteries for scrubber-dryers and sweepers and industrial batteries. There is also the golf battery category in the online shop.
Request a quote for your course or community
Fill in the form with your company details, the number of vehicles and the voltage, and we will call you to go over the details. It is the same form as on the trade account page.
Frequently asked questions about batteries for golf fleets
Do you deliver batteries to golf courses on the Costa del Sol?
Yes. We deliver to golf courses, hotels, resorts and communities in Málaga and the Costa del Sol. Ask for the delivery time when you request your quote. Fitting is done by your own team.
What information do you need to give me a quote?
The number of vehicles, the system voltage (36 or 48 V), how many batteries each one takes and a photo of the label on the current ones.
Can I replace only the batteries that are failing?
It is not advisable. In a series pack the weakest battery limits the rest, and a new one among old ones wears out very quickly. The right thing is to renew the vehicle’s complete set.
Will my current charger work if I move to lithium?
Usually not. Lithium needs a charger with its own charging profile, and you have to check that the vehicle accepts the change. We confirm it from the rating plate details before quoting.
What happens if you do not have my reference in stock?
We supply it to order and tell you the lead time before you confirm.
We handle industrial and traction batteries for machinery, forklifts, platforms and emergency equipment. The price depends on the voltage, on the capacity in amp-hours and on the battery type your equipment takes. Tell us on WhatsApp the model of the machine or of the battery you have, or call 952 31 01 18, and we will give you a free, no-obligation quote. No appointment, at C/ La Orotava, 100.
Tell us your model — we'll tell you your battery and price
One field, that's it. We reply on WhatsApp with the exact reference and price — no need to leave your phone.
