OPTIMA Batteries
OPTIMA is Clarios group's high-performance battery, recognizable by its six cylindrical cells and its SpiralCell technology: pure lead wound in a spiral instead of flat plates.
SpiralCell technology
In an OPTIMA each cell is a tightly rolled bundle of two sheets of 99.99 % pure lead, sealed in AGM. That architecture multiplies the active surface area, reduces internal resistance and makes the battery practically immune to vibration: it can withstand up to fifteen times more than a conventional battery, recharges faster, requires no maintenance, does not spill and can be mounted in almost any position. It is the same industrial family as VARTA, oriented to demanding starting, deep cycle and nautical use.
The ranges
- OPTIMA RED TOP — Pure Start: the maximum current for starting the engine with power. Red cap, for cars, 4x4 and off-road.
- OPTIMA YELLOW TOP — Dual purpose: starting and deep cycle for high power consumption. Yellow lid, for audio, winch and highly equipped vehicles.
- OPTIMA BLUE TOP — Marine: starts the boat engine and powers onboard services. Blue top, many versions with dual terminal.
How to choose
The color of the cap indicates the use: red for starting, yellow for dual purpose and blue for marine. If you only need to start, choose RED TOP; if you also consume electricity with the engine off, choose YELLOW TOP; for boats, choose BLUE TOP.

Do OPTIMA batteries require maintenance?
No. They are sealed AGM: there is no need to refill water or check levels, and they do not spill even when tilted.
