At Málaga Baterías (C/ La Orotava, 100, 29006 Málaga), Official Varta Distributor since 1999, we change the battery of any car brand with no appointment, in about 15 minutes. Each brand calls for a technology —conventional, EFB or AGM— and on Start-Stop and hybrid cars the new battery must be registered in the ECU. Guideline prices with installation included: 85-140 € conventional, 130-230 € EFB and 180-280 € AGM.
Your car's brand determines which battery it needs. In the VAG Group (Seat, Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda, Cupra) and the German premium brands (Mercedes, BMW, Mini), AGM with mandatory registration dominates; in Stellantis (Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Fiat) the CMP platform uses EFB/AGM with coding via OBD; the Renault Alliance (Renault, Dacia, Nissan) relies on EFB and hybrids with a 12 V auxiliary; and Toyota runs its HSD hybrid, where the 12 V is auxiliary and does not crank the engine. Do you work with every car brand?
Yes. Does the brand of battery you fit matter?
We fit Varta, of which we have been Official Distributor since 1999. Varta is factory original equipment on many of these brands, so the battery we install meets your car's original specification in technology, capacity and cranking. We pick the correct reference from your plate.
Does the battery need coding depending on the brand?
It depends on the brand and system. On VAG, Mercedes, BMW and Mini with a terminal sensor or IBS, the new battery must be registered or coded in the ECU; on Stellantis it is usually done via OBD; on many older cars without Start-Stop it is not needed. We check it from your plate and, if required, do it included at no extra cost.
Does the price change depending on the car brand?
The price depends on the technology your car needs, not on the brand itself. A conventional battery costs 85-140 €, an EFB 130-230 €, an AGM 180-280 € and a high-end AGM 280-380 €, always with installation included. Premium brands usually take AGM, so they fall in the upper range.
Do premium brands (Mercedes, BMW, Audi) need anything special?
Yes. Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Mini come with factory AGM and a battery sensor (IBS), so the new battery must be registered or the car charges it poorly. Also, on several Mercedes and BMW the battery sits in the boot or under the seat, and some Mercedes carry a separate auxiliary battery. We do all of that included.
How long does it take and do I need an appointment?
No appointment is needed. Drop by C/ La Orotava, 100, 29006 Málaga, we run the free Midtronics test and, if a change is due, we fit the battery in about 15 minutes with the ECU registration done before you leave. Everything in store: we do not offer home fitting.
