Which battery does your car need?
Not every battery fits every car. What matters is not only the size but the technology your vehicle requires. Fitting a lower-grade battery than the car needs shortens its life and can cause electronic faults. These are the four technologies in the Varta Dynamic range:
- Conventional (Varta Dynamic SLI) — for cars without Start-Stop. The classic starter battery for vehicles with standard electronics.
- Basic Start-Stop (Varta Dynamic EFB) — for entry-level Start-Stop cars. Reinforced plates that cope with the system's constant restarts.
- Advanced Start-Stop / AGM (Varta Dynamic AGM) — for Start-Stop cars with heavy equipment, regenerative braking or lots of electronics. Maximum cycling resistance.
- Auxiliary (Varta Dynamic AUX) — a secondary 12 V battery that powers support systems in many modern, hybrid and advanced Start-Stop cars.

The Varta Dynamic range for cars

Varta Dynamic SLI — conventional
The choice for cars without Start-Stop: city cars, petrol and diesel with standard electronics. Strong cold-cranking (CCA) at a keen price. It is the direct successor to the older conventional Varta batteries.
Varta Dynamic EFB — basic Start-Stop
For cars with entry-level Start-Stop. The reinforced (EFB) plates withstand the hundreds of daily restarts the system performs. A Start-Stop car must never use a conventional battery.
Varta Dynamic AGM — advanced Start-Stop
The most demanding technology: electrolyte absorbed in a glass-fibre mat (AGM). For cars with advanced Start-Stop, regenerative braking, heavy electrical equipment or premium spec. It handles far more charge and discharge cycles than EFB.
Varta Dynamic AUX — 12 V auxiliary
An auxiliary battery that supports on-board systems, memory and backup functions in many modern and hybrid cars. It does not replace the main battery: it works alongside it. We fit exactly the reference your car requires.

How the change works: no appointment, 15 minutes
You do not need to book: we serve on a first-come, first-served basis. The process is simple:
- 1. Free check. We test your battery with Midtronics equipment: voltage, state of charge and real CCA. A healthy battery at rest reads 12.6–12.8 V; below 12.4 V it is only partly charged.
- 2. Exact reference. We find the right battery for your car by plate or model (size, terminals, CCA and SLI/EFB/AGM technology).
- 3. Fitting on the spot. We replace the battery in about 15 minutes, always disconnecting the negative terminal first so settings are not lost.
- 4. Registration / coding. On Start-Stop cars with battery management (BMS) that require it, we register or code the new battery so the system recognises it.
- 5. Recycling. We take the old battery and recycle it free of charge in line with regulations.

What is the difference between an EFB and an AGM battery?
Both suit Start-Stop cars, but AGM is superior. EFB has reinforced plates and goes in entry-level Start-Stop. AGM has electrolyte absorbed in a glass-fibre mat, handles many more charge and discharge cycles and is what cars with advanced Start-Stop, regenerative braking or heavy equipment require. You can fit an AGM where an EFB went, but not the other way round.
How long does a car battery last in Málaga's heat?
Heat is a battery's worst enemy. In Málaga's climate a realistic lifespan is 5 to 7 years: a conventional battery lasts about 4–5, an EFB 5–6 and an AGM 5–7. Many fail at the end of summer, when accumulated heat takes its toll. A free check in time saves you from a breakdown.
