How battery delivery to the marina works

From your message to the battery on the pontoon

Four steps, without a trip to the shop.

  • 01You tell us the boat and the batteries it has now
  • 02We confirm the part number and the quote
  • 03We agree the delivery at your marina
  • 04We take the used batteries away

We deliver to the marina; fitting on board stays in your hands. That’s how most skippers and owners work: whoever knows the boat’s installation (you, your marine engineer or the boatyard) connects the batteries, and we make sure the right part number arrives, charged and ready to fit.

The exact hand-over point is agreed when the order is confirmed, in line with each marina’s access rules: gate, pontoon, hardstanding or your chandlery’s premises. We collect the used batteries on the same visit and recycle them at no charge.

Which boat batteries we deliver

We supply batteries for sailing yachts, motorboats, RIBs, leisure fishing boats and charter boats. The first thing is to separate what each one has to do:

  • Starting: they give the burst of current that fires up the engine, inboard or outboard.
  • Service and dual purpose: they run the fridge, electronics, lights, pumps and windlass, and stand up to repeated discharge and recharge. Dual-purpose batteries start the engine and run the services with a single battery, common on small boats.
  • AGM: sealed, maintenance-free and spill-proof, they cope well with vibration and rolling. Suitable for starting and for service.
  • Lithium: far less weight and more cycles for the service bank. It needs a compatible charger and alternator: we go through it with you before quoting.

Varta Professional and Optima Blue Top ranges

These are the two marine ranges listed in our online shop. Some of the part numbers we deliver to marinas:

You’ll find every size and capacity in the boat battery catalogue. If you’re torn between two part numbers, send us a photo of the label on the current battery and we’ll tell you which one fits.

Trojan, Rolls and TAB, quoted on request

For deep-cycle service banks we also work with Trojan, Rolls and TAB. They aren’t listed in the online shop: tell us the voltage and capacity you need, or which batteries are fitted now, and we’ll send a quote with delivery to your marina.

For marine engineers, charter companies and chandleries

If you change batteries often, you want a supplier who answers quickly and brings the goods to where you work. We serve trade customers all along the Costa del Sol:

  • Recurring supply: repeat orders of the same part numbers, without starting from scratch each time.
  • Delivery to the marina or to your workshop: at the boatyard, the chandlery or the charter base.
  • Used battery collection: we take them away and recycle them at no charge.

Register as a trade customer and ask for terms for your business through the trade and workshop registration form.

What we need to know to get it right first time

A battery that doesn’t fit the space, or has its terminals the wrong way round, means another trip to the marina. These five details avoid that:

  • System voltage: 12 V or 24 V. A 24 V system normally uses two 12 V batteries in series, and it’s best to replace both together.
  • Size of the battery space: available length, width and height, allowing for the box lid and the hold-downs.
  • Terminal type and position: standard tapered posts, threaded studs or dual marine terminals, and which side the positive sits on.
  • Loads on board: fridge, autopilot, chartplotter, windlass, bow thruster, inverter… and how long you spend at anchor with no engine and no shore power.
  • Charger: the model of the shore-power charger and, if fitted, the solar regulator or alternator charger, to check that the charging profile suits the chosen technology.

Frequently asked questions about battery delivery to Costa del Sol marinas

Do you fit the battery on the boat?

No. We deliver the battery to the marina and take the old one away, but we don’t come on board to fit it. Installation is done by you, your marine engineer or the boatyard. What we do is help you get the part number, dimensions and terminals right, so fitting is a case of one out, one in.

Which Costa del Sol marinas do you deliver batteries to?

Puerto de Málaga, Real Club Mediterráneo, El Candado, Caleta de Vélez, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Cabopino, Puerto Deportivo de Marbella, La Bajadilla, Puerto Banús, Estepona and La Duquesa. If your boat is in another port in the province of Málaga, get in touch.

How long does delivery to the marina take?

It depends on the part number and the marina, so we don’t give a general lead time. Ask for the delivery time when you request a quote and we’ll confirm it for your actual order.

Do you take the boat’s old batteries away?

Yes. We collect the used batteries on the same delivery and recycle them at no charge. They just need to be disconnected, removed and waiting at the agreed hand-over point.

I don’t know which battery my boat takes. How do I get a quote?

Send us a WhatsApp photo of the label on the current batteries and of the space they sit in, and tell us whether the system is 12 V or 24 V. With that we confirm the equivalent part number in Varta or Optima, or a quote in Trojan, Rolls or TAB.
