Personal watercraft operate in one of the most demanding environments a battery can face: high-power starts, constant vibration, salt-water spray and long idle periods during winter storage. A standard motorcycle battery rarely lasts more than one season.

Recommended technology

Original jet ski batteries are sealed, maintenance-free AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat). Their advantages:

• Vibration resistance: the immobilised plates withstand the impacts of the waves.
• Fully sealed: no leaks if the watercraft capsizes.
• High CCA: needed to crank 1000-1800 cc engines.
• Deep-discharge tolerance: they survive 4-5 months without use without sulphating.

For intensive users we offer LiFePO4 lithium: 60% lighter, fast recharge, 2000+ cycles. It costs 3-4× more, paying for itself over 2-3 intensive seasons.

Maintenance in a coastal climate

Málaga has corrosive salt-laden air. We recommend: disconnect the negative terminal if the craft sits unused for more than 2 weeks; use a maintenance charger during winter storage (CTEK MXS); clean the terminals with bicarbonate; check the voltage at the start of every season.
