Why batteries fail sooner in Alhaurín de la Torre

The heat
The warm climate around the Guadalhorce valley speeds up electrolyte evaporation and plate corrosion. That is why a realistic service life in Málaga is 5–7 years: conventional 4–5, EFB 5–6 and AGM 5–7. Cold weather does not kill a battery — summer does. Winter simply exposes damage already there.
Short journeys
Alhaurín de la Torre has a lot of scattered detached housing and developments where the car is essential. Many residents drive short daily trips into Málaga city, and that is exactly the pattern that wears a battery out fastest: starting draws a large amount of energy, and a short run gives the alternator no time to put it back. Which technology your car needs
Fitting the wrong type is the quickest way to waste money:
- No Start-Stop: a correctly sized conventional battery does the job.
- With Start-Stop: it needs EFB or AGM, never a conventional. EFB uses reinforced plates; AGM has its electrolyte absorbed in glass fibre and withstands far more cycles.
- With regenerative braking or heavy electronics: AGM is normally mandatory.
- Hybrids and EVs: alongside the traction battery they carry a 12 V auxiliary battery (almost always AGM), and that is the one we replace.

How long does it take to reach you from Alhaurín de la Torre?
Only a few kilometres heading towards Málaga city. We are at C/ La Orotava, 100, San Luis industrial estate, next to the Carretera de Cádiz.
