Frequently asked questions about choosing a battery
How do I know if my car has Start-Stop?
If the engine switches off on its own when you stop at a light and restarts when you release the brake or clutch, your car has Start-Stop. There's usually also an «A OFF» button with an arrow around an A. If you're not sure, drop by and we'll check it free with your plate.
Which battery does a Start-Stop car take?
Start-Stop cars need an AGM or EFB battery, depending on what the manufacturer specifies. These technologies withstand the constant start and stop cycles; fitting a conventional battery in a Start-Stop causes premature wear and dashboard warnings.
What's the difference between AGM and EFB?
EFB is the entry-level Start-Stop range (basic Start-Stop); AGM is superior, for advanced Start-Stop with regenerative braking and a lot of electronics. You can move up from EFB to AGM, but never down from AGM to EFB or conventional in a car that requires AGM.
Can I fit more amps (Ah)?
You can raise the capacity (Ah) a little if the size and terminals fit, and it doesn't harm the vehicle because the car only draws the current it needs. What you must not lower is the CCA (cold cranking) or change the technology (AGM/EFB) your car requires.
How do I find the exact reference of my battery?
The fastest way is with the plate: we look up free the exact reference approved for your vehicle. You can also check the dimensions, the position of the positive terminal and the CCA of the current battery.
What does the price depend on?
On the type and capacity: a conventional one is cheaper than an EFB, and AGM offers the highest performance. We tell you the exact price when we confirm the reference with your plate, with no obligation.
