Why a battery should not be changed in the street

  • Diagnosis first: very often the battery is not the culprit. A failing alternator or a current leak will kill the new battery too. We test everything with Midtronics equipment before charging you a cent.
  • Start-Stop and BMS coding: Start-Stop cars need the new battery registered in the ECU. Skip that and the car charges it wrongly — it lasts half as long. That takes diagnostic equipment, not a van kit.
  • Keeping power connected: disconnecting without backup wipes settings, radio presets and, on some models, window or sunroof calibration. In the workshop we avoid it.
  • Safety and recycling: batteries contain lead and acid. Handling them kerbside is not safe, and the old one must enter the authorised recycling circuit — which we do with every change.
