# Battery for Škoda in Málaga

> We change your Škoda battery without an appointment in ~15 min: EFB/AGM and ECU registration included. Official Varta Distributor since 1999 in Málaga.

Home › Car batteries › Batteries by brand › Škoda A Škoda uses a 12 V battery , and the technology depends on whether the model has Start-Stop: conventional on entry trims without Start-Stop, EFB on the Fabia, Octavia, Kamiq and Karoq with Start-Stop, and AGM on the higher-spec versions that left the factory that way. Like the whole VAG Group range, modern Škodas have a sensor on the negative terminal and the new battery must be registered in the ECU . At Málaga Baterías (C/ La Orotava, 100, 29006 Málaga), Official Varta Distributor since 1999 , we test it for free and replace it without an appointment, in about 15 minutes . Guide prices with fitting included: 85-140 € conventional, 130-230 € EFB and 180-280 € AGM.

All sorts of cars run around Málaga, and Škodas have become a common sight: the Fabia in town, the Octavia for families and fleets, and the Kamiq and Karoq SUVs gaining ground. They share their mechanicals and electronics with Seat, Volkswagen, Audi and Cupra, so the same VAG Group rules apply: as soon as there is Start-Stop, the battery is EFB or AGM and fitting it is not enough — it must be registered in the ECU so the car charges it properly. We do it on the spot, without an appointment , at C/ La Orotava, 100, 29006 Málaga . Everything in store : we do not offer home fitting.

What battery does a Škoda use?
The VAG Group rule is simple: no Start-Stop, conventional; with Start-Stop, EFB or AGM , always registering the new battery in the ECU when the car has a sensor on the negative terminal. Guide figures, all at 12 V :
Range Typical technology Registration Note
Fabia Conventional or EFB Yes, on Start-Stop Supermini, ~55-60 Ah; the 1.0 TSI with Start-Stop needs EFB
Octavia EFB or AGM Yes High-demand saloon/estate; sometimes AGM from the factory
Kamiq EFB (AGM if well equipped) Yes Compact TSI SUV with Start-Stop
Karoq EFB or AGM Yes SUV with TSI/TDI and widespread Start-Stop

Guide figures: they change with the year, the trim and the equipment. «—» = detail we confirm from your plate.
A quick way to know what you need: look at the negative terminal . If it has a sensor with a connector coming off it, your Škoda actively manages charging and needs EFB or AGM plus registration of the new battery. And if your car came with AGM from the factory, it must keep AGM: you can go up from EFB to AGM, but never down from AGM to EFB .

Signs it is time to change it

- Slow cranking when cold, especially first thing on damp mornings.

- Start-Stop stops kicking in , or it does and the engine restarts by itself after a few seconds: the classic first warning on modern Škodas.

- A message on the dash that the Start-Stop conditions are not met.

- Intermittent glitches on the screen, the Virtual Cockpit or the sound system.

- Battery replaced recently but not registered in the ECU : the car keeps treating it as the old one, charges it badly and it lasts half as long.

- More than 4 years. In Málaga a conventional battery lasts 4-6 years on average and an EFB or AGM 5-7 .
